Tell us a little about yourself.: I was born and grew up in Ireland. I have also lived in Australia for 10 years. I came to the USA in 2006 and I live here now with my wife and daughter. In my spare time I enjoy surfing, listening to electronic music, playing football (soccer), and running with my dog. I am also an avid reader. 
I am passionate about social justice and belong to numerous human rights organizations.

Where did you go to school and what did you study?: I went to school in Hunter College NYC. I double majored in English Literature and Education.

What do you like best about working in education?: Making education a vehicle for social change and upward mobility.

What is your favorite part of the school day?: When kids rush in to tell me something amazing that happened to them after/before school or at the weekend. I love it when a child smiles.

What do you like best about Bridges, your classroom, or your teaching team?: I like the mission of inclusiveness.

What were you like when you were a kid?: Sports crazy and loved the outdoors. Constantly wet either from water sports or playing football in the rain in Ireland.

Keyuanna Evans

Tell us a little about yourself.: I love spending time with my family. In my free time I enjoy relaxing watching Lifetime movies. I hold true to the Albert Einstein quote: "Education is what remains after one has forgotten what one has learned in school."

Where did you go to school and what did you study?: I received my Bachelors in Health Physical Education/Recreation and my Masters degree in Special Education, graduating with honors at Virginia State University.

What do you like best about working in education?: I simply love to watch students in Special Education grow in Reading, Writing, Math, Socially and Emotionally.

What is your favorite part of the school day?: My favorite part of the school day is the morning when students enter the class. I love to greet the students and hear about there weekends, last nights dinner, church program, and the best one...the no homework excuse.

What do you like best about Bridges, your classroom, or your teaching team?: The team of teachers that I work with are all team players. They are very willing to jump in and help wherever there is a need.

What were you like when you were a kid?: When I was a kid I was very athletic and enjoyed being in school plays.

Tate Alvarez

What name do you go by at Bridges?:  Ms. Tate

Tell us a little about yourself.: My first name is Brittany, but everyone calls me Tate (so you should, too). I am from Grapevine, TX, which is right in between Dallas and Fort Worth.I moved to DC in 2014. I like doing handstands, going on a nice run, and drinking coffee (I take it black with with half a packet of Splenda).

Where did you go to school and what did you study?: I went to Texas A&M University for my Bachelors of Science in Sociology

What do you like best about working in education?: I love building relationships with students and helping to shape them into life-long learners!

What is your favorite part of the school day?: My favorite part of the day is the Science and Social Studies block. It's fun to watch the student's learning in an area that doesn't have so much emphasis on testing.

What do you like best about Bridges, your classroom, or your teaching team?: Our classroom is full of joy, laughter, and learning. We all work together and respect each other. There's a familial sense in our classroom that has really created a safe space to learn.

What were you like when you were a kid?: When I was a kid I was incredibly inquisitive and probably annoying. I bounced around a lot and liked to do anything active.

Larry Copper

What name do you go by at Bridges?: Mr. Larry

Tell us a little about yourself.: I'm really reserved until you get to know me. I enjoy shopping, dressing nicely, dancing, and eating out. My favorite color is purple and i love, love, love french fries to the point I would marry a fry. I like to think of myself as a big kid at heart. Most likely you can catch me at Bridges model walking down the hallways.

Where did you go to school and what did you study?: I went to Oxon Hill High School. College I went to the Art Institute of Philadelphia to study Photography.

What do you like best about working in education?: I like the fact that I can teach kids different methods of learning that they can use in everyday life.

What is your favorite part of the school day?: my favorite part of the day is Math. The transitions move smoothly via rotations to different stations. I also am a strong teacher in math so my delivery in teaching that subject is much stronger.

What do you like best about Bridges, your classroom, or your teaching team?: I really enjoy my classroom, the teachers in this classroom works really well together. we all play off one another vibes and we're always willing to lend a helping hand.

What were you like when you were a kid?: i was a sweet kid, who made honor roll from second grade all the way up to ninth grade. I was friendly and open to meeting new people. I loved the outdoors and playing in lakes.
