We are seeking passionate professionals to be a part of our initiative to build an excellent inclusive preschool and elementary school community. Bridges Public Charter School is growing into an elementary school program. Each year, we will add a grade level reaching capacity at 5th grade in 2017-2018. For school year 2016-2017, we are adding fourth grade. Bridges Public Charter School Mission
Bridges Public Charter School’s mission is to provide an exemplary educational program that includes all students. Our child-focused and family-centered educational approach nurtures students to develop their academic and social-emotional skills to build a foundation for life-long learning.
All Teacher applicants (Lead and Assistant) must be "highly qualified" in accordance with the No Child Left Behind Act of 2001. Lead teachers must have either: a BA and certification in Early Childhood or Elementary Education; a BA and passed the Praxis II Early Childhood or Elementary School exams; or a Masters Degree in Education. Assistant Teachers must have either: a BA; an AA; or have a High School Diploma and passed the Praxis ParaPro exam. Special Education Teachers must have a Masters Degree or Bachelors and certification in early childhood special education or special education. A minimum of 2 years experience working with Special Needs Students in either a mainstream classroom or resource room setting is also required.
All non classroom base positions (for example, Development Director and Social Worker) must have a Bachelors degree or higher, all needed certifications or licenses for the position and a minimum of 3 years work experience in the position.
Salary and Benefits
An employee's salary is based on educational level, certification(s), and years of experience. Employees will be contracted yearly. Contracts will be renewed according to evaluations and staff interest. Benefits include: health care, disability insurance, and a retirement plan: 401-(k) or the continuation of the DCPS retirement plan. To ensure safety for all students, all staff members will be fingerprinted and background checks will be conducted on all school staff prior to their service as employees. The 1st round interview is the submission of written responses to questions provided to candidates via email. Candidates invited for a 2nd round interview will have a phone interview. Candidates invited for the 3rd round interview will have an in-person interview. Candidates for teaching positions will lead a demonstration lesson with students as part of the 3rd round interview.
