Bridges Public Charter School Mission
Bridges Public Charter School’s mission is to provide an exemplary educational program that includes all students. Our child-focused and family-centered educational approach nurtures students to develop their academic and social-emotional skills to build a foundation for life-long learning.
Qualifications
All Teacher applicants (Lead and Assistant) must be considered "highly qualified" in accordance with the No Child Left Behind Act of 2001.
Lead teachers must have either:
Bachelor’s Degree and a certification in Early Childhood or Elementary Education;
Bachelor’s Degree and a qualified pass on the Praxis II Early Childhood or Elementary School exams;
Master’s Degree in Education.
Assistant Teachers must have either:
Bachelor’s Degree;
Associate’s Degree; or
High School Diploma and passed the Praxis ParaPro exam.
Special Education Teachers must have:
Master’s Degree; or
Bachelor’s Degree and certification in early childhood special education or special education.
A minimum of 2 years of experience working with Special Needs Students in either a mainstream classroom or resource room setting is also required.
All non-classroom base positions (for example, Development Director, Social Worker, etc.) must have a Bachelor’s Degree or higher, all needed certifications or licenses for the position, and a minimum of 3 years of work experience in the position.
Salary and Benefits
An employee's salary is based on educational level, certification(s), and years of experience. Employees will be contracted yearly. Contracts will be renewed according to evaluations and staff interest. Bridges PCS benefits package includes health care, disability insurance, and a retirement plan: 401-(k) or the continuation of the DCPS retirement plan in addition to other optional benefits. To ensure the safety of all students, all staff members will be fingerprinted, and background checks will be conducted on all school staff prior to their service as employees, without exception. Application Process
All applicants will submit written responses to questions provided to candidates via email in the first interview round. Candidates invited for a 2nd round interview will have a phone interview. Candidates invited for the 3rd round interview will have an in-person interview. Candidates for teaching positions will lead a demonstration lesson with students as part of the 3rd round interview.
